High capacity premium baling

The MF 1842S is a new, additional model in the Small Square Baler range alongside the MF 1840.

The MF 1842S has been developed to meet the demands of customers requiring a super heavy-duty, high-capacity small square baler with significant additional feeding capacity, output, and extra density if required.

This new, high-capacity square baler shares key features of the MF 1840 which have made that model so successful. These include the in-line layout which ensures consistent crop flow, a large pick-up which is even wider on the new model, and compact dimensions for great manoeuvrability.

Technology & Innovation

UNRIVALLED PERFORMANCE

MF 1842S balers benefit from many design improvements which increase capacity by up to 20% over the MF 1840. All key elements of the MF 1842S are developed to ensure high productivity, including the heavy-duty pick-up, the high capacity feeding chute, dual feeding forks, and a larger preforming chamber. Performance is also guaranteed with lower fuel consumption and reduced downtime. 

CENTRE LINE DESIGN

The unique in-line layout means the baler runs in-line directly behind the tractor for unrivalled convenience and field working efficiency. The crop travels in a straight line from the time it enters the pick-up until it drops out of the back as a finished bale. In addition it improves weight distribution and reduces ground compaction.

OPTIFORM BALE CHAMBER

For a superb bale shape in all conditions and to maintain consistent density, the OptiForm bale chamber is 2100mm long – an increase of 5% over the MF 1840, and it is equipped with adjustable bale chamber resistance doors. The standard hydraulic bale density system applies pressure to both the upper and lower rails. It automatically adapts to crop conditions to produce bales of consistent weight.

STRONG RELIABILITY

The MF 1842S is designed to ensure excellent performance and reliability – allowing owners to achieve maximum productivity during the short harvest season when crops are in optimum condition, year after year. The main frame is constructed for high loads and a long working life, the new pick-up is immensely strong for maximum reliability, and new, heavy-duty knotters ensure superb reliability and flexibility.

COMPACT DIMENSIONS

MF 1842S small square balers produce industry standard bales of 356mm x 457mm (14″ x 18″). This baler combines great performances with a compact size and a narrow 2.6m transport width, ensuring excellent manoeuvrability on the road and in the fields.

HIGH CAPACITY PICK UP

The heavy-duty 1.98m wide pick-up provides maximum reliability and high capacity. The high-speed pick-up reel maximises feeding capacity and allows faster working speeds.

NEW FEEDING CHUTE

The new tapered feeding chute ensures higher capacity and a controlled flow of material into the pre-forming chamber. The large front opening allows smooth, unhindered crop flow.

DUAL FEEDING FORKS

The feeding system now features dual feeding forks with two rows of three tines. The practical and durable design achieves 20% higher feeding capacity.

OPTIFORM BALE CHAMBER

The 2100mm long OptiForm bale chamber with adjustable doors on both sides ensures superb, consistent bale shape and density. The hydraulic bale density system applies pressure on top and lower rails and automatically reacts to changing crop conditions.

RELIABLE AND FLEXIBLE KNOTTERS

The MF 1842S has high quality knotters which offer superb reliability and great flexibility using a wide range of twines. Nickel-plated components improve wear characteristics and prolong the working life.

RELIABLE STRONG FRAME

The robust frame of the MF 1842S was inherited from one of the most successful North American models, and this proven design was chosen for its excellent reliability and long working life.

EFFICIENT DRIVELINE

A new, heavy-duty driveline ensures excellent power transmission. An aligned, mid-support pedestal means the PTO shaft remains in line with the drawbar – allowing excellent manoeuvrability and reducing driveline vibration and wear.

NARROW TRANSPORT WIDTH

The new design combines high performance with a compact size and the MF 1842S features an overall width of only 2,6m for convenient road transport, even with the wide 1.98m pick-up.

CENTRALISED GREASING SYSTEM

Grease is fed to twelve grease points through a distribution block. There are six grease points on each knotter head. The system ensures that components are efficiently and quickly lubricated.

TWINE STORAGE

The MF 1842S carries 10 balls of twine – enough for the longest working days. The large compartment allows the use of ‘super large’ twine spools, so that even more twine can be carried.

GREAT MANOEUVRABILITY

Whether on the road or in the field, the MF 1842S benefits from great manoeuvrability thanks to the compact width resulting from the in-line design.

ELECTRIC KNOTTER FAN

An electric knotter fan is fitted as standard to the MF 1842S and ensures the knotters remain clean and free from any debris build up during operation.

NEW PLUNGER STROKE

Reduced downtime and lower running costs are ensured by the new heavy-duty plunger and bearings designed especially to withstand the high loads and ensure a long working life. The longer plunger stroke increases torque and minimises power requirement.

PLUNGER COUNTER BALANCE

The MF 1842S is equipped with a counterbalance on the plunger drive arm to maintain a consistent plunger speed. This helps reduce the power requirement and saves fuel.
